Is anti-virus enough in today’s age?
Gone are the days where you can simply install anti-virus software on your workstation, and assume you are protected.
Just check today’s news feed and you will likely see another company hit by a Cyber attack. They are learning the hard way that anti-virus is not enough. You need Cyber Security. Period.
Do I really need a dedicated SOC?
The best Cyber Security solutions available today include MDR (Managed Detection and response), which means a team of Cyber Security specialists are on standby at the SOC, (Security Operations Centre), to help with any threats. The current Cyber Security solution has an amazing track record of blocking Cyber attacks. In the unlikely circumstance where an unknown zero-day threat gets through, the SOC can quickly lock down the environment, and roll-back any workstation or server to a time before the threat. A team of trained Cyber Security experts are on-hand to quickly restore the environment back to normal.
Is Cyber Security enough?
Redundancy, redundancy, redundancy. While Anti-Virus and Cyber-Security are there to protect you, redundancy is always recommended. You’ve likely heard in the news that when a Cyber attack occurs, the company has to restore the environment from their backups to get back online. File-level backups don’t cut it in this scenario, you need full BDR, (Business Disaster Recovery), which means you have a carbon-copy image of all critical servers, allowing you to “roll back” to a point in time before the Cyber attack.
eProsper® Inc. has both on-premise and cloud BDR solutions available to make sure you have full protection in today’s threat landscape.
What about remote staff?
Employer: Do you have Anti-Virus and Cyber Security installed and up to date? Do you only buy and download software from reliable sources? Do you only use your computer for work, and not for gaming, downloading movies/audio, BitTorrent, etc.?
Employee: Of course, everything is fine. Don’t worry.
Reality: It’s a free anti-virus solution with a terrible security score, and they don’t have Cyber-Security with MDR installed. Some staff are even downloading pirated software and media through BitTorrent to save money without your knowledge. Their family use their PC after work hours for gaming, and who knows what else. This is a security risk for your company, as it connects to your network.
In a nutshell, a safe network is one where the employer guarantees the minimum security standards and software are deployed and maintained. Taking someone’s word that they have the required security and follow the rules is not sufficient.
eProsper® Inc. can provide company-managed Anti-Virus and Cyber Security, and can even enforce security compliance at the firewall, so remote employees cannot connect to the company VPN unless they meet the minimum company specified security requirements. If they don’t have current and approved anti-virus and Cyber Security installed and running, they can’t connect to the corporate network.
